Facts to consider

God Says

Heaven (eternal life) is a free gift,  based on God's grace. Heaven cannot be earned or deserved. Amazing but true, eternal life is a free gift from God to you.
 

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Romans 6:23

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast."  Ephesians 2:8-9

Man in himself does not deserve the gift of heaven. Why? because he is a sinner by nature and by choice.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"     Romans 3:23   

"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."    James 2:10

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost"    Titus 3:5

There is a penalty for sin.  God is love.  He doesn't want to judge you.  BUT God is also just. He must judge sin.

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Pet 3:9 

"Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation."  Exodus 34:7 

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"        Romans 3:23

Jesus Christ is your only way to heaven.  He is the infinite God-man.  He paid the penalty of our sins, and purchased a place in heaven for us.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.....And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:1,14  

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.     "Rom 5:8

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" 1 Pet 3:18

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."  John 14:6

Personal faith in Christ is the answer.  Faith is not merely mentally believing a fact.   Faith is turning from your sins and trusting in Jesus Christ alone for your eternal salvation.

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."  James 2:19

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."   Acts 4:12

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"    John 1:12

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."  Acts 16:31

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."       Rom 10:13
